In my first installment of the Fit for Summer blog theme, I reviewed the rules for staying safe and healthy when Mother Nature turns up the heat. Those rules tell us when to avoid exercising outdoors due to excessive heat and humidity.
I know, however, there are many who will break those rules. Sometimes, it’s out of necessity. As in, your job requires you to work outside, no matter the conditions. Other times, it’s impractical to abide by the rules. For example, you’re training for a race and the forecast is for a week to ten days of incessant heat. You can’t skip that many days of training and not all of your training can be replicated indoors. Or maybe you just love working out when it’s blazing outside. Regardless of the reasons, if you’re going to break the rules, you need to do it in the safest way possible. Read my Heat Advisory Rule Breaker: What You Need to Know post to learn how.
